Education

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.’’ Nelson Mandela,
According to a study by World Bank in 2013, 50 percent of children do not attend school in Haiti. Approximately 30% of children attending primary school will not make it to third grade; 60% will abandon school before sixth grade based on another study by UNICEF in 2008. This fact clearly inhibits the country’s development. At Leve Soval Foundation, we understand that children in rural areas are the most vulnerable when it comes to those statistics; therefore, we make it a priority to improve Education in rural areas in Haiti.

This past August, we launched our first Back to School initiative. Leve Soval Foundation completed a school supplies giveaway in Sauval, Jean Rabel, Haiti, where we handed out 500 backpacks which included notebooks, pen, pencils, and sharpeners. We also partnered with Ecole Adventiste de Sauval, by committing to pay tuition fees for a third of students at the school, which was planning to close its door due to the parents’ inability to pay tuition.

Health

According to standard of care based on well-established intuitions, Haiti has reported the worst health care indicators for years. It is even worse in rural areas, rural health care is a known challenge even for well-developed countries. A country like Haiti health care in rural areas is non-existent. According to USAID, “roughly 40 percent of the population lack access to essential health and nutrition services; only 45 percent of all children (12-23 months) are fully vaccinated and 22 percent of children under 5 years old are stunted.”

Leve Soval Foundation aims to improve health care in rural areas of Haiti by providing educational hygiene and health workshop through yearly medical mission trips. In the near future, we plan to partner with rural hospital and clinics to educate health care providers and leaders. Also, there is a shortage of clinics in rural areas, our goal is to help build new clinics.

Leve Soval Foundation would like to thank each and every one of our donors and supporters.
